AutoCAD Technical Drawings
Freelance CAD Draughtsman · AutoCAD LT 2024 · Remote & On-Site, Cornwall & South West
AutoCAD Technical Drawings Service
I produce precision technical drawings using AutoCAD - the industry standard for 2D engineering draughting. Whether you need a single detail drawing turned around quickly or a complete drawing package for a new machine or installation, I work directly from your brief, sketches, or survey data and deliver drawings that are accurate, buildable, and ready to use.
With over 40 years of mechanical engineering experience behind every drawing, what I offer isn't just competency with the software. It's the engineering judgement to get it right first time - without the rework, delays and costs that come from drawings that need correcting.
How it works
Most AutoCAD work is handled remotely at my home office.
You send me your specifications, sketches, existing drawings, or survey data - I produce the drawings and return files in your preferred format. For projects that require site visits to survey or measure, or on-site working, I'm available to travel throughout Cornwall and the South West - and other locations by prior arrangement.
I work to your drawing standards and conventions, and I'm set up to receive and return files in all standard formats including DWG, DXF, and PDF.
Turnaround time depends on scope - for urgent single drawings I can often turn work around quickly, just get in touch to discuss what you need.

Why Choose Cometrule?
A lot of engineers and fabricators have been burned by CAD drawings that looked right on screen but caused problems on the shop floor - wrong tolerances, missing details, measurements that didn't account for how something is actually made.
I've been producing technical drawings since 1979. That means I understand not just how to draw something, but how it will be fabricated, assembled, and installed. I can identify problems before they become expensive — and I produce drawings that the people building things can rely on without question.
My clients come back because I always strive to produce drawings that don't need to be checked or corrected. That's what right first time actually means in practice.

Most clients send a combination of sketches, existing drawings, specifications, or a written brief by email. Some send scanned hand sketches, others send DWG files or PDFs of existing drawings they want revised or added to. Whatever format your information is in, I'll work with it. If the brief is complex, a site visit and saves time for everyone.

I work in AutoCAD LT 2024 and deliver drawings in DWG, DXF, and PDF as standard. If you need a specific AutoCAD version for compatibility with older software, just let me know and I'll save accordingly. Most clients want PDF for approval and DWG for ongoing use — I supply both as a matter of course.

It depends on scope. A single detail drawing needed urgently can often be turned around quickly dependent on my other projects. A full drawing package for a new machine or installation will take longer - I'll give you a realistic timescale when I understand the full scope. I don't overpromise on turnaround and I don't miss deadlines.
-
Yes, this is straightforward. I'm also happy to take on drawing sets that were produced by someone else - even if the quality is inconsistent, I'll work with what's there and produce clean, accurate revisions.

We offer flexible pricing based on project type and complexity. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.

Yes. For projects that require a site survey, on-site liaison, or working directly with an engineering or production team, I'm available to travel. I cover the Southwest regularly - Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset - and I frequently take on work in Yorkshire and the wider North of England where a good deal of my manufacturing and steelwork client base is located. For projects elsewhere in the UK, travel can be discussed depending on the size of the project.

I'm based in Gunnislake in Cornwall. Most of my work is carried out remotely from my home office - which suits the majority of technical drawing projects perfectly well. I also work regularly with clients in Yorkshire, where I have long-standing relationships with engineering and manufacturing businesses, and I take on site work across the Southwest as a matter of course.

Yes, alongside AutoCAD I also work in Inventor. Get in touch to discuss the types of projects I can work on in 3D.
