A truly local draughtsman for the South West
I'm based in East Cornwall — and while most of my work is carried out remotely from my home office, I'm actively available for engineering drawing projects across the Southwest: Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and beyond.
For clients in the region, being based locally means site visits are straightforward, travel costs are minimal, and there's no waiting for someone to travel from the other end of the country. I understand the engineering and manufacturing landscape in the Southwest and I've worked with clients here for years.
Whether you're in Truro, Plymouth, Exeter, or Bristol, I’d be happy to visit and chat about your project.
For projects that require site surveys or on-site working, I can typically visit within a day or two rather than coordinating complex travel arrangements. For clients who prefer to meet and discuss requirements in person before committing to a project, that's straightforward. And for ongoing relationships where regular contact is useful, being in the same region makes a difference.
That said, the majority of engineering drawing work is handled entirely remotely — you send me your brief, sketches, or existing drawings, and I return files in your preferred format.
Whether you're in Truro, Plymouth, Exeter, or Bristol, I’d be happy to visit and chat about your project.

Local Projects
The Southwest has a diverse engineering and manufacturing base - marine and defence industries, construction and infrastructure, environmental and water sector work, agricultural engineering, and a significant heritage of specialist manufacturing. I work across all of these sectors and bring experience from a national client base to every project.
If you're a manufacturer, engineering contractor, steelwork fabricator, infrastructure company, or construction business in the Southwest looking for reliable freelance draughting support, I'd be glad to discuss your requirements.
Environment Agency Infrastructure, St Columb
Design and detail of steelwork and process elements for Environment Agency projects across the region, including pump station layouts, site arrangement drawings, and operation and maintenance manual sketches.
2020
Dockside Structural Work, Plymouth
2023
Detail drawings for steelwork elements for dockside structural redevelopment in Plymouth - an ongoing engagement involving coordination with structural engineers and contractors.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Cornwall and Devon as a matter of course - I'm based in Gunnislake on the Cornwall/Devon border so both counties are straightforward. I also cover Somerset, Dorset, and Bristol regularly. For projects further afield in the Southwest, travel is always worth discussing - I regularly work in Yorkshire, too.
-
Yes. For larger or more complex projects where it's useful to understand the site conditions before agreeing scope, I'm happy to visit before we formally agree the work. Get in touch and we can discuss whether a preliminary visit makes sense for your project.
-
Yes. A significant part of my work is one-off drawings for smaller businesses - a single component detail, a modification drawing for an existing piece of equipment, a layout for a new installation. These are exactly the projects that don't justify employing a full-time draughtsman but do need someone who knows what they're doing. I take them seriously and turn them around quickly.
-
Yes. For urgent single drawings I can often turn work around quickly. If you have an urgent requirement, call rather than email — 07515 739372.

I produce technical engineering drawings for manufacturing companies, steelwork fabricators, construction contractors, and infrastructure businesses — using AutoCAD for 2D work and Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling. Jobs range from a single detail drawing for a one-off component to full drawing packages for new machinery, production plant, or construction projects. Typical work includes mechanical engineering drawings, structural steelwork details, architectural metalwork, site survey and measured drawings, and process plant documentation. Some clients come to me with a rough sketch; others send DWG files they need revised or added to. If it involves precision technical drawing, it's likely something I can help with.
